Technological gap analysis of livestock production system in humid ecosystem of India

摘要

The study was conducted in humid ecosystem (Guntur, Mangalore, South Arcot, Hubli, Wayanad, Karaikal, Karimganj, Upper Subansiri, North Sikkim and Puri) of India during 2006-2010, with objective tch determine the attitude, knowledge and technology gapof farmers towards animal production practices. Most of the respondent (47.3%) were having favourable attitude towards dairy farming. The extent of knowledge in relation to animal production practices was found highest (48.4%) in case of landless amongall farmers' categories. A poor knowledge was observed in the field of fodder (15.78%) followed by animal breeding (35.77%). Technology gap related to recommended animal production practices was found highest in large farmers (82.88 %). Technology gap was highest (84.22%) in the field of fodder production followed by animal breeding (64.23%) whHe it was lowest in case of health management (39.64%).
