Influence of plant growth regulators on biological efficiency of straw mushroom, Volvariella volvacea

摘要

Conventional outdoor method of straw mushroom cultivation results in low biological efficiency (8-10 %). Hence, yield improvement through application of plant growth regulators was explored in Volvariella volvacea. The highest yield (920 g/bed) alongwith biological efficiency (13.14 %) was obtained using Indole Acetic Acid @ 200 ppm treatment. Modest mycelial run period of 9 days was observed and was statistically at par with the 2.5 % urea application treatment having yield of 883 g/bed and biological efficiency of 12.6 %. However, application of micronutrient mixture @ 0.25 % and Gibberellic acid @ 50 ppm did not exhibit any yield advantage (10.28 and 10.66 % BE, respectively) over control (10.76 % BE).
