Putting the 'all' in ATV

The versatile all-terrain vehicle (ATV) has found a handy home on the farm, usually in four-wheel trim. But another breed of ATV has also become more popular in the market, a bigger bodied utility vehicle class populated by such players as Kawasaki'sMule and Deere's Gator. Another player in this market is Polaris with its Ranger series. In February Polaris rolled out the redesigned Ranger 6X6 with several new features aimed at this market, including one feature not offered by others: more speed. While makers of these bigger vehicles offer beds for hauling, they're all limited to 25 miles per hour for top speed. For Polaris, the top speed is 40 mph. As for towing, the new Ranger 6x6 is rated at 1,500 pounds, and during a media day near Orlando, Fla., Polaris folks demonstrated that the unit is capable of much more than that.
