Growth and management of Melocanna baccifera in north east India

摘要

The paper reports (i) notes on the habitats and taxonomy based upon the field observations, (ii) topographic variables and its impact on the growth, which helps in knowing the most suitable altitude ,aspect and slope per cent for plantation in degraded hills , (iii) impact of felling height and intensities and suggests most suitable felling height ana intensities to manage the stand on sustainable basis,(iv) various treatments under plantation which triggers the growth performance significantly (v invasive power and gradual conversion of Tree Dominated Shifting Cultivation land to Bamboo Dominated Shifting Cultivation land and (vi) species diversity (earthworms 'insects and rodents) during gregarious flowering.of of Melocanna baccifera in North EastIndia.
