摘要

Widjaja (2001) mentioned that the Lesser Sunda Island consists of 14 bamboo species, whereas Flores Island consists of 10 species (1998). Although the field guide of the Lesser Sunda Island bamboo has been published, the investigation on bamboo inventory in Sumba, Alor, Solor and other small islands in Moluccas has not been conducted. Because of that when Widjaja & Karsono have visited Sumba Island in 2003, a new Dinochloa sp. has been reported but it is not able to identify or describe due to lacking of inflorescence (Widjaja & Karsono 2004). By collecting bamboo in the small islands it is expected that the inventory of the Indonesian bamboo can be finished. Although it is recorded that about 80% of the Indonesian bamboo has been inventoried.
