French Contract Law Reform

The reform is, for the most part, simply a question of bringing the Civil Code up to date with the current state of French contract law. It seeks to codify rules developed by case law over the years. While, as outlined above, the reform comprises some substantial changes, criticisms decrying a quiet 'revolution' in French contract law are not justified. The reform does not drastically alter French contract law as it stands, nor are the few substantial changes proposed likely to open the door to ruthless judicial intervention in business relations.
