Quebec logger Jean-Guy Robichaud keeps his gear humming along with daily maintenance and a grease recommended by the sawmill he cuts for. Water washout and corrosion are two major challenges faced by loggers trying to keep gear running in a harsh environment and round-the-clock schedules. Failing that challenge leads to decreased productivity, higher maintenance costs, and smaller bottom lines, things few independent contractors can afford. Jean-Guy Robichaud would agree to that He is the owner and foreman of Jean-Guy Robichaud & Sons Inc., a sub-contracting company in Ste. Perpetue, QC. Jean-Guy has lived in this forestry and sawmilling community of 2,000 his entire life, and like many in the town, logging has become a family affair. He is a fifthgeneration logger with 30 years experience, his sons Joel and Jonathan also work for the company, and his wife handles company administration duties.
