Approximately 5,000 people took in the fifth "Live in the Woods" show put on by the Pacific Logging Congress in late September. The four-day event was held at Longview Fibre's Nehalem Tree Farm in Clatskanie, OR, which is located approximately 80 km northwest of Portland, OR. The event organizers chose a theme of "Education Has No Borders" for the show, and students made up a large percentage of the visitors, numbering around 2,500. The grade five through grade 12 students were primarily from nearbycommunities in Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington. More than 50 vendors were on hand to showcase the latest technology and equipment and to provide visitors with a sense of what will be hitting the forest floor in the near future.
