摘要

A controversial plan to mechanically limit all trucks operating in Canada to 105 km/h is causing plenty of divisiveness within the industry. Yet ironically, it's the industry itself that first floated the speed limiter balloon. The contentious proposal was first tabled by the Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) last November. At that time, the association said it wanted all trucks operating within Ontario to be mechanically governed at 105 km/hr. OTA president David Bradley, who is also CEO of the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA), a coalition of provincial trucking associations representing each province, also announced at the time the CTA hoped to eventually roll the plan out from coast-to-coast. It sounded like a pipe dream.
