摘要

Vibrio infections are an increasingly common problem in intensive shrimp culture. As evidenced by study results, weekly Vibrio monitoring can be a useful tool for predicting bacterial disease outbreaks. Nursery-phase shrimp appeared healthy, and GCFUVibrio numbers were very low. However, the stress of harvest and restocking, combined with water quality stressors, likely depressed the shrimp immune systems and resulted in increased vulnerability to Vibrio infection. Concurrently, disruption of the established bacterial community may have caused a shift in the balance of non-pathogenic and pathogenic Vibrio populations.
