摘要

The Food Safety Modernization Act places new responsibilities on foreign and domestic food companies, and gives the Food and Drug Administration new powers over imported food. The new law deems the seafood industry largely compliant because of the existing Seafood 11ACCP Guide, but requires review of HACC1.V food safety plans every three vcars. Sanitation requirements are expanding, and importers must notifv FDA if products have been refused. Importers must also perform risk-based supplier verification. The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), signed into law on January 4 by U.S. President Barack Obama, was a major accomplishment of the 111th Congress toward achieving safer food.
