First Latin American agro-food research seminar proposes QMS network

The first International Quality Management Seminar for Latin American Agro-food Research Organizations achieved virtually unanimous approval to adopt ISO 9001:2000 and ISO/IEC 17025:200, and to set up a quality management network linking the national agricultural research institutes of the region. The first International Seminar on Quality Management in Agro-food Research and Extension Organizations took place on 16-18 May 2005, in the towns of Concordia, Argentina, and Salto, Uruguay. It was attended by 90 top officials and other professionals involved in quality management systems (QMS) implementation in national institutes, and cooperative organizations working within the agricultural, agro-food and agro-industrial system of the Southern Cone countries of Latin America and Mexico.
