The time has come for industry to demand more credible third-party certification to ISO 9001:2000 if certification is going to be meaningful and add value to the certified organization and its customers. With more than a decade of experience to draw from, all of the stakeholders of the present system need to ask the following tough questions: · Do customers of certified organizations have trust in the certificates at present ? · What does a certificate actually mean ? · Is there a relationship between an ISO 9001:2000 certificate and the perform ance of a certified organi zation in meeting custom er expectations?
