ANSI's new accreditation programme helps increase global mobility of professionals

ISO's new standard (see ISO Bulletin,May 2003) ISO/IEC 17024,Conformity assessment - General requirements for bodies operating certification systems of persons,is off to a good start - it has been taken up and put into action at ANSI,ISO member for the USA. Once the structure,draft policies,and procedures were in place,ANSI launched a comprehensive pilot of the formal accreditation programme in October 2002.Below we look at how it is being implemented and what advantages it is going to bring.
