Enablers and barriers to using ICT for implementing ISO 14001

An environmental management system based on ISO 14001 can generate more information than can be coped with comfortably, let alone exploited efficiently and effectively. As in so many business domains, information and communication technology (ICT) can provide a solution in the form of an Environmental Management Information System - on condition that the user organization understands the factors inhibiting and favouring its successful deployment.
