Argentina occupies the southern end of South America, occupying a total 3 761 274 km2. The country has frontiers with Bolivia, Paraguay, Brazil, Uruguay and Chile, and is separated from the latter by the Andes. From north to south, Argentina is 3 460 km long with a maximum width of 1 580 km. The country is characterized by the variety of its landscapes and its geographical and climatic diversity from north to south.The population exceeds 36 million people, approximately 12 million of whom are concentrated in Buenos Aires City and its surroundings. Twenty-there provinces and the autonomous city of the capital, Buenos Aires, make up Argentina.
