ISO's Committee on developing country matters (DEVCO) - the first committee of its kind established by an international standards organization - is celebrating its 40th anniversary of identifying and addressing the standardization needs of developing countries."ISO, to my knowledge, is the first international standards organization to have established a committee at the level of policy making devoted to developing country matters. It is also the only international standards organization to have both a policy development committee and a programme for developing countries" said Dr. Anwar El-Tawil, Secretary of DEVCO.
