When the WBB is useful, and when it isn't

In their Letter to the Editor, Pagnacco and colleagues evaluate the possibility that the Nintendo Wii Balance Board may be "interchangeable" with laboratory force plates. We agree that the existing data do not support the claim that the Wii Balance Board is interchangeable with laboratory force plates. However, for us, the interchangeability of these devices is not the central question. A more appropriate question, we believe, is "under what circumstances is the WBB a valid, reliable force plate, and under what circumstances is it not?"
