摘要

The spatial reconstruction of the structure of voids associated with ancient abandoned mines is required for the safety of the internal and surrounding environment, and before resuming mineral exploitation. The mine development plan is often unavailable and flooding may have occurred. A synthetic example is used here to demonstrate that seismic tomography may provide a sufficiently detailed 3-D image of a mine, by placing a limited number of sources and receivers in accessible locations within the mine, (e. g., ventilation shafts and transport drifts). It is shown that local resolution of the main targets can be increased by fitting, in sequence, the tomographic grid to the available ray paths and to the interpreted velocity anomalies.
