World poultry meat production in 2003 will be dominated by a handful of countries and is expected to be largely unchanged on last year. Total broiler meat exports are forecast to be marginally lower, at 5.7 million tonnes. This fail is primarily attributed to the import quotas imposed by Russia, the largest market for poultry products. As a consequence, competition amongst the major exporting countries is expected to intensify, possibly leading to a reduction in prices.
