World poultry meat production in 2003 is expected to total around 58.3 million tonnes, with production dominated by the four main producing countries of the US, Brazil, China and the EU. A small rise in production is forecast for 2004. Broiler exports by the leading suppliers in 2004 are forecast to total 6.2 million tonnes, boosted by gains in the US, Brazilian and EU share of export markets. China, the EU, Japan, Mexico, Russia and Saudi Arabia are expected to account for around 70 per cent of poultry meat imports next year.
