The strong market conditions of 2011 were expected to result in a stabilisation or rebuilding of global sheep numbers. However, figures for this year indicate that declines are still occurring with Australia being the major exception to this in the southern hemisphere. Elsewhere, the US has indicated numbers are falling while some rebuilding is reportedly occurring in the EU, particularly the UK.
