Steady performance for Chilean fresh fruit exports: A recent report published by the Chilean Exporters Association (ASOEX) highlights the promising results achieved by the country in its core markets in 2004/05
CHILEAN fresh fruit shipments rose by 1.7 per cent last season to 224.1m cartons. The figure is similar to the results achieved in 2003/04 and reflects the balance achieved by rising exports of table grapes, avocados, peaches, nectarines, cherries, berries, Clementines and kiwifruit and the decrease in sendings of apples, pears and plums. According to the Chilean Exporters Association (ASOEX), table grape shipments grew by 7.2 per cent in 2004/05 to 98m cartons. All of the country's key grape producing regions — with the exception of the VI Region — reported a rise in exports, with the III, IV, V and Metropolitan Regions achieving incr eases of 22.4, 12.3 and 0.6 per cent r espectively, Output in the VI Region fell by 1.9 per cent.
