Impact of institution village linkage program on socio-economic conditions of farm families in Barua village of Midnapore

The socioeconomic impacts of technical interventions and trainings implemented during 2000-01 under the institution village linkage programme in Barua village, Midnapore, West Bengal, India, were assessed. A marked increase in the output of each enterprise was observed. An improvement in the general health and nutritional status of livestock was noticed. Considerable increase in total production of fish in ponds was also observed. The programme facilitated the adoption of appropriate technologies relevant for socioeconomic development.
