摘要

Varietal adoption has been made possible to a considerable extent. Seed rate and fertilizer recommendations are some what followed. But recommended spacings are dopted in limited crops on limited scale. With the advent of modern agricultural technology, agricultural production has been lifted up to a considerable higher level and food security of India has been maintained to some extent. Now an efficient machinery of public distribution system is much needed. Nevertheless, we cannot strongly hold that the laboratory has bridged the land on desired scale. The information system is not strong enough to communicate necessary details about science and technology in general and agro-techniques in particular in the vast country like India where a considerable portion of people are rural and illiterate. This research intends to analyze the extent of adoption of modern agricultural technology in the most remote district of Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal. The specific objectives of the study are as follows: To assess the extent of adoption of modern agricultural technology related to variety, seed rate, spacing and fertilizers and manures; to identify the size group of the sample farmers relating to their educational qualification; to find out the size group-wise irrigation status of the sample farms, the source-wise availability of irrigation water and the size group-wise cropping pattern and cropping intensity of the study area and ; to enlist the size group-wise important crop sequences followed in the study area.
