摘要

In this study, a structural model consisting ofserial and parallel parts with three phase-components, solid,liquid and gas, is developed to give information on soil structures.The structure model is characterized by the ratio of the serial andparallel parts, which have different electrical conductivities atgiven directions. The ratio is expressed by a structural factor, F.The value of Гdefined by σW/(1-F)is used and examinedto characterize the clay structure, whereσW is theapparent resistivity of pore water.Experimental results showed that the value of Гis different for undisturbed and remolded clays fora similar void ratio. For unsaturated clays, it isfound that the F value depends on the water contentand pore distribution. From theoretical andexperimental consideration, it is possible to useresistivity to describe the micro-structure of claywith the model developed in this study.
