SP GRADING SURVEY PARKED SCHEME LOOKS GOOD FOR 2007

An Inwood magazine survey reveals that the introduction of structural pine grading in Australia is inevitable and that the major investment of time and money in the 'parked' scheme will be redeemed, as Jim Bowden reports. AS THE DUST SETTLES followingthe recent shelving of the structural pine (SP) grading standards in Australia, a special survey of the timber industry by Inwood shows continued widespread support for the programme. In fact, timber engin ers and a number of the bigger truss and framemanufacturers interviewed strongly believe SP grading will be on the market in eastern states by June 2007, putting the deferment down to "just bad timing".
