Investigation of Birdsfoot Trefoil (Lotus corniculatus L.) Populations and Varieties Grown in Central Northern Bulgaria

The current study presents a biological and economic characterization of two populations birdsfoot trefoil originating from Yugoslavia, Hungary and two varieties Pulavskii (Poland) and Viking (USA). The reference variety was the Bulgarian variety Turgovishte 1. The study was carried out the experimental field of RIMSA - Troyan, during the period 2003-2005 years. The trial used the block method with four replications with harvest plot size of 5 m2. As a result high yielding were selected K-30, Pulavskii and Viking, which exceeded the reference by 69.2, 50.3 and 38.9%, The high productivity correlated with the high values of the major parameters of the seed yield structural elements.
