In the near future cosmic wheat will be a reality. In this relation it is necessary to point out the main aspects of developing such a direction of breeding. Probably the wheat plant grown in space will be very different from the conventional one. This paper is an attempt to show what kind of plant could be the new type of wheat from the breeding point of view. Perhaps the time of space travel is not very far. Life in space requires provision of the main factors for survival, including independent food production. Life in space has been described by Prof. Hermann Obert (1894-1989) and the basic principles he outlined are used in the space programs (Langbein, 2000). These are space stations with their own gravitation and independent food production. This means to have grain production and other foods, which are irreplaceable. In these complex plants and animals have to be grown. Wheat could be one of these plants.
