Surveys carried out in order to determine the presence of cereal viruses on rice in Trakya Region of Turkey between 2002 and 2003. Totally 29 of 61 tested fields were founded infected at least with 1 virus. Interestingly, 5 of 5 surveyed fields were infected with at least 1 virus in Ipsala in 2002. Mixed infection was common, CYDV-RPV and BYDV-PAV mixed infection type were determined in 16 of tested samples followed by 8 samples with CYDV-RPV and B YDV-MAV, 5 samples with B YDV-MAV and BYDV-PAV, and1 sample with BMV and CYDV-RPV. Results of ELISA indicate 5.6% with BYDV-PAV, 5.3% with BYDV-MAV, 4.3% with CYDV-RPV an4,2.1% infection with BMV infection, respectively. Scattered plants observed in many fields, dwarfed plants and yellow patches in the fields were determined during 2 years of surveys. Many plants dwarfed and grew very slowly. BSMV and BaYMV were not determined in any samples during 2 years of surveys.
