SOME FEATURES OF THE REDUCTION PROCESS FROM CrVO4 TO CrVO3

The reduction process from CrVO4 to CrVO3 was investigated by TPD; TGA; XRD, IR, and ESR spectroscopies; and SEM. This detailed analysis shows that the corundum-type CrVO3 mixed oxide forms from 900 K and suggests as an intermediate stage the incorporation of CrIII in a VO2 rutile type phase. The absence of the V2O3 typical free-carrier behavior could result from the CrIII in the lattice, and it is revealed by IR spectroscopy. 21 refs.
