COMPARISON OF PERCEPTIONS OF FAMILY SUPPORTBETWEEN CONSANGUINE RELATIVESIN A SUPPORT CENTER

This study aimed to evaluate the family support in a clinical sample of families attended in a family care center of a private university and compare the perception of support among members. Subjects were 40 families, totaling 120 participants, consisting of father, mother and child with age ranging from 11 to 71 years. The instrument used for data collection was the Inventory of Perceived Family Support (IPSF). The data were analyzed with descriptive and later nonparametric Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis test for comparison. From the results, the scores of families can be classified as medium-low, and there was significant difference in the autonomy dimension in their children as perceived less autonomy compared to their parents. As the results presented by children in all dimensions of the IPSF, the young men perceived greater support offered, and they presented higher mean response compared with those presented by woman.
