The purposes of this study are to measure non-response rates on the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking (TTCT; Figural) and determine the effect of modifying elaboration and originality scores. The participants were 89 Hispanic students in grades 4-7. Students scoring in the lowest quartile on fluency for activity 2 and activity 3 (TTCT) were compared with their higher-fluency counterparts on the three modified TTCT scores. The results indicate no statistically significant difference on any of the scores. Hence, scoring procedures that penalizes elaboration due to low numbers of responses may merit additional examination. The issue of incomplete responses on the TTCT Figural is a topic that should be acknowledged. Future research on the effect of non-response on scoring of the TTCT may help make the scoring more exact.
