Role of Monosodium Glutamate in the Development of Murine Obesity Models

摘要

Obesity is a public health problem associated with chronic degenerative diseases. In order to study this pathology, several murine models have been development based on high-calorie diet, neuroendocrine and genetic changes or brain lesions. The objective is to offer proposals for treatment and prevention for this disease. We describe the role of monosodium glutamate in the development of murine obesity models. This model has been related to neuronal death of hypothalamus arcuate nucleus, structure that regulates hormonal signals as insulin and leptin which are involved in food intake.
