A PSYCHOLOGICAL MODEL FOR ADHERENCE BEHAVIORS AMONG HIV-POSITIVE PERSONS: RESEARCH AND PERSPECTIVES

摘要

In this paper we summarize the central core of a psychological model for adherence behaviors (PMAB) in the context of HIV-positive persons. First, we justify the importance of a conceptual analysis approaching a formal model. Second, we describe recent developments based on the model and the implications for future research to improve both, our knowledge on mechanisms underlying adherence behaviors, as well as designing and implementing intervention programs for behavior change from a psychological point of view.
