Optimisation of the forensic psychiatry care chain in the Netherlands by information sharing

Purpose - The article discusses how information sharing can contribute to the optimisation of the forensic psychiatry care chain. Approach - The author argues that similarities can be found between supply chain management approaches and forensic psychiatry care. For a case study, 25 representatives have been interviewed. Outcomes are supported with a literature review. Findings - The biggest gain from information sharing can be obtained in the area of treatment duration forecasting, classification of sub-groups and treatment paths. Research limitations ~ The article is largely conceptual, where ideas are presented to stimulate discussion rather than prove arguments. Paper type - Viewpoint
