摘要

The complex tetraphenylcyclobutadiene palladium(IV) chloride shows a longest-wavelength absorption at lambda_(max) = 530 nm which is assigned to a LMCT transition from the C_4Ph_4 dianion to Pd(IV).LMCT excitation leads to the release of Pd(CH_3CN)_2Cl_2 and neutral C_4Ph_4 which dimerizes to octaphenylcyclooctatetraene.
