Impact of intercropping on powdery mildew severity and yield of Vigna mungo and Vigna radiata

The Mungbean also known as green gram (Vigna radiata) and black gram (Vigna mungo) belong to the same family fabacea (earlier leguminoseae). Green gram is widely cultivated as well as consumed pulse crop throughout India (2). India alone accounts 65%world acreage and 54% of green gram production. It stands next to soybean in its dietary protein content. In India major mungbean growing states are Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Orissa and Bihar. It is grown around 3.54 million hectare area and production is 1.81 million tonnes during 2010-11 in the country.
