摘要

Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) is the premier pulse crop of Indian subcontinent. India is the largest chickpea producer in the world and the productivity is affected by many biotic and abiotic factors. Among the biotic factors, Helicoverpa armigera (Hub) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is considered to be one of the most damaging insect pests. It attacks tender foliage, flowers and pods of chickpea. Chaudhry and Sharma (1982) reported that single larva of H. armigera damaged around 7 to 10 per cent pods, accounts for 5.4 per cent yield loss. The yield loss due to H. armigera in Karnataka ranged from 10 to 80 per cent (Yelshetty and Sidde Gowda, 1998). Indiscriminate use of pesticides led to development of resistance in many pests, including H. armigera (Collins and Hooper, 1984). In this regard, an attempt has been made to evaluate the bioefficacy of new molecule, viz., chlorantraniliprole 20 SC, which belongs to anthrinilic diamide group.
