The coffee berry borer Hypothenemus hampei (Ferrari) (Coleoptera: Curcu lionidae) is the most devastating insec pest of commercial coffee worldwide Female insects bore galleries in the berry where they oviposit up to 50 eggs, causing qualitative and quantitative losses through larval feeding of the endosperm. The cryptic nature of Coffee Berry Borer (CBB) inside the berry, combined with a skewed sex ratio favoring females (10:1) and sibling mating inside the berry make this insect quite difficult tocontrol. Due to the insect's concealed nature, biological control is the most promising management option against the Coffee Berry Borer.
