Korea's coffee imports jumped to a record high this year as specialty coffee consumption spread among younger consumers as per reports of Korea International Trade Association. Korea imported a record $508 million worth of coffee betweenJanuary and October, a surge from $307 million last year. The import figures have continued to grow in Korea since 2000, hitting the $300 million mark for the first time last year. Younger people enjoying coffee are believed to have driven the surge in coffee imports, with specialty coffee house chains springing up everywhere in recent years. Korea has per capita consumption of about 2kg.
