Many metabolic aspects are assessed in different physiological and productive conditions based on their rhythmicity. Changing in these rhythms may indicate risk factor or, sometimes, the presence of pathology not yet evident. The aim of this study wasto use the most rigorous design possible in normal subjects to assess a cir-cadian rhythmicity of calcium and phosphorus in serum and of their ratio, in dogs at different age and of different sex. For our study, fifteen clinically healthy dogs (Boxer),rose in the same breeding environment, were used; specifically dogs were: 5 puppies, 5 females and 5 males. On each subject blood was sampled by radial puncture every 4h for 24h (from 04.00 to 24.00). On the individual serum samples, immediately after each blood collections calcium and phosphorus concentrations were assessed by means of a selective ions technique with internal standards (indirect method) and their ratio was made. By applying a periodic model, a rhythmicity was showed in all the subjectsboth for calcium and phosphorus (with diurnal acrophases) and for their ratio (with nocturnal acrophases). These results contribute to define the temporal circadian organization Calcium and Phosphorus in dog which includes clinical-therapeutic applications.
