Wave-front correction and production of Zernike modes with a liquid-crystal spatial light modulator

I describe a nematic liquid-crystal spatial light modulator that can be used as a high-precision wave-front control device. I present results showing the open-loop correction of wave-front aberrations and demonstrate wave-front shaping by the production and quantification of the first 15 significant Zernike terms. # 1997 Optical Society of America
