Mark Greenspan reports.I MAY BE JUST shooting from the hip here, but I'm fairly confident that most vineyards are improperly fertilized with nitrogen (N). Much like water, nitrogen is the one mineral input that seems to be mis-applied to vineyards.And like over-use of water, over-use of nitrogen can lead to problems with canopy management, fruit and wine quality, and sustainable viticulture.
