Tasmania is one of Australia's favourite cool climate wine regions, so what's the history behind the Tassie Tolpuddle Vineyard?Michael Hill Smith and Martin Shaw travelled to Tasmania in early 2011 to have a look around and find a site they could work on and, at the time, they noticed the fruit from Tolpuddle was being sold to other wineries. This was the pair's first exposure to Tolpuddle Vineyard - the most exciting wines they tasted in their travels were barrel samples of wine from Tolpuddle Vineyard fruit. So they arranged to visit the vineyard, and once they'd driven in the gate it took about 30 seconds before they had decided that they wanted to own it. The fact it was not on the market turned out to be only a small hurdle.
