Peter W. Pfeiffer Fish Hatchery

The Peter W. Pfeiffer Fish Hatchery is owned and operated by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR). It was originally called the Frankfort National Fish Hatchery when it was constructed by the USFWS in 1952.The hatchery has undergone two major improvements that were both designed by HDR/Fish Pro. The first in 1992 added a new building with a water treatment plant, and made improvements to the water supply pump station and the reservoir. The latest expansion,completed in late 2013, added another intensive rearing and holding facility and five ponds that provide an additional 2.8 hectares.
