Nova Scotia demo farm to feature high-tech communications system

Over 400,000 dollar is being spent on a project to grow sustainability for Nova Scotia's aquaculture industry while increasing public perception and confidence in aquaculture. Engineering details aren't finalized, but Bruce Hancock, Executive Directorfor the Aquaculture Association of Nova Scotia, says that a high-tech communications system will be a key component of the project's demonstration fish farm. Hancock said the project involves establishment of above- and below-water cameras, monitoring and weather data collection as well as wave and water data-gathering systems. The system will have transmitting capability allowing members of the public to "tune in" through a website and discover what's happening at project locations.
