Differential splicing of type II procollagen mRNA in canine retina.

摘要

The canine retina was shown to express 2 forms of type II procollagen mRNA, IIA and IIB, by alternative splicing of exon 2 at the N-propeptide region. The N-propeptide region of type II procollagen showed homology of～96% with the corresponding human mRNA, at both the nucleotide level and the amino acid level. The IIA and IIB forms of type II procollagen were expressed from shortly after birth until adulthood.
