From AgCN Chains to a Fivefold Helix and a Fishnet-Shaped Framework Structure

In a time when chemists have to find innovative and tricky ways to synthesize novel materials,sometimes very simple reactions yield unexpected compounds with surprising compositions and properties.One remarkable example is the unspectacular reaction of the cesium halides CsCl,CsBr,and Csl with silver cyanide in acetonitrile.Using the analogous reaction conditions and identical concentration ratios of reactants,the reactions lead to meshed cyanoargentates(I).
