Catalytic Enantioselective Friedel-Crafts Alkylation of Indoles with Nitroalkenes by Using a Simple Thiourea Organocatalyst

The addition of aromatic substrates to electron-deficient alkenes,which in many respects may be considered a Friedel-Crafts type alkylation,is a key reaction in synthetic organic chemistry for the formation of new C-C bonds.Catalytic,enantioselective versions of this fundamental transformation have been reported,which use metal-based chiral complex catalysts or an imidazolidinone organocatalyst.
